On Friday, June 20, Teatro Arsenale will host the live performances by Sound Design students
IED Milano presents Frequenze 2025, the annual event showcasing the projects of the Bachelor’s Degree in Sound Design.
An evening of live performances, sonic research, and experimentation, open to the public and hosted at Teatro Arsenale.
The program opens with Nel Mentre, a series of performances by second-year students, developed as the outcome of the Performative Techniques exam.
Plenilunio
by Maria Chiara Delli Santi and Cecilia Olivero.
Plenilunio is a conceptual work that crosses space, time, and emotions in a non-linear way. It reflects on language, memory, and social tension, where each sound element carries emotional and symbolic meaning.
La Camera dell’Ozio
by Rocco Amati, Cristian Capponi, and Beatrice Vasa.
This piece combines music and theatre to reflect on contemporary alienation. The protagonist is a Senator of the Republic, whose inner voice questions the emotional emptiness of society. On stage, the symbolic renunciation of power becomes an act of vulnerability and social critique.
Following these, two thesis projects explore sound as a narrative, immersive, and critical language:
Lēthē
by Filippo Giunnelli, Federico Pasciucco, and Alex Zanni, with choreography by Silvia Cattaneo and Francesca Di Marco.
A performance exploring mental deterioration caused by sleep deprivation. Two dancers embody the conflict between rationality and hallucination, set in an atmosphere split between reality and the subconscious. The music accompanies and intensifies this descent into oblivion.
al-halqa (the circle)
by Giovanni Leopoldo Infante.
An immersive sound experience inspired by the Moroccan rituals of halqa and lila. Field recordings, prayers, and traditional instruments intertwine in a narrative evoking the collective spirituality of the places visited.
