After earning his Bachelor's Degree in Transportation Design at IED Torino, Matteo Perini transformed his passion for transportation design into a professional career within the yachting industry. Through the experiences gained during his studies, which enabled him to collaborate with leading companies and professionals from both the automotive and marine sectors, he developed a solid design methodology grounded in teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Today, Matteo works as a Junior Exterior Designer at Absolute Yachts S.p.A., one of the leading companies in the international yachting sector, where he applies on a daily basis the technical and design skills acquired during his years at IED.
We asked Matteo to reflect on how his experience at IED contributed to his professional development and how the opportunities encountered during his studies prepared him to meet the challenges of a career in yacht design.
"My name is Matteo Perini and, looking back, I believe that my experience at IED was fundamental in transforming a passion into a profession.
In addition to the technical skills I acquired during the three-year Transportation Design programme at the Turin campus, I had the opportunity to learn from lecturers and industry professionals, individuals capable of conveying the passion, commitment, and professionalism that this profession demands.
Throughout my studies, I had the chance to work on projects with major companies and designers from both the automotive and marine industries, the latter ultimately becoming my true vocation.
Today, I work as a Junior Exterior Designer at Absolute Yachts S.p.A., where I put into practice every day the knowledge and skills I developed during my years of education at IED.
My experience at IED equipped me with a structured design methodology, a collaborative mindset, and a set of competencies that I continue to consider essential to my professional growth and career development."
