IED Torino welcomes Marco Rainò, architect, designer and independent curator, who takes on the role of Scientific Leader of the Master of Arts in Interior Design.
His appointment brings to IED’s educational programme a project vision grounded in experimentation and dialogue between disciplines, shaped by years of experience across architecture, design, research, curatorship and education. An approach that considers design not only as a professional practice, but also as a tool capable of interpreting the present and opening up new possibilities.
Co-founder of BRH+, a studio that develops an interdisciplinary approach to design as a poetic statement, a cultural action and a driver of social transformation, Rainò has built his career by combining design practice and theoretical research with a constant critical engagement. This perspective is particularly close to an understanding of Interior Design that goes beyond the mere dimension of space to engage with people, behaviours, culture and social change.
His work also includes IN Residence, a project dedicated to the exploration, education, support and communication of emerging talent in experimental contemporary design, which Rainò co-founded and curates. The initiative reflects his interest in research and in creating opportunities for dialogue among designers, disciplines and new generations.
His experience in education also includes teaching positions at Politecnico di Torino and Domus Academy in Milan, as well as strategic and artistic direction roles at IAAD – Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design in its Turin and Bologna campuses. He is also the author of numerous publications focusing on architecture and design.
With Marco Rainò joining the programme, the Master of Arts in Interior Design further strengthens the dialogue between education, research and the professional world, offering students new perspectives to develop a conscious, experimental approach to design that is open to the transformations of the contemporary world.
