Design as a tool to break down barriers and stereotypes
From October 14 to 17, 2025, IED Firenze will inaugurate the 2025/26 Academic Year for the Undergraduate Courses with “The Future as an Act of Trust”, a series of talks and workshops exploring design as a tool for social responsibility and inclusion.
The program opens on October 14 with a lecture by Lulghennet Teklé, an architect specialized in Universal Design, who will speak about accessibility as a driver of creativity. Later the same day, psychologist and content creator Giulia Lamarca will share her personal and professional journey, showing how communication and inclusion can break stereotypes and turn fragility into opportunity.
On October 16, the focus shifts to fashion with the workshop “Inclusive Fashion Made in Italy”, organized in collaboration with Lyddawear, a brand designing garments and accessories for a wide range of disabilities — a laboratory where aesthetics, functionality, and personal dignity take center stage.
The closing event will take place on October 17 at the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci di Prato, where students will work on accessibility projects connected to the ongoing exhibitions, transforming the museum visit into an exercise in co-creation and critical reflection on the present.
Three days to reaffirm that design is not only about aesthetics, but above all an act of openness, dialogue, and vision for a more inclusive society.
