IED Turin at Salone Auto Torino 2026: concept cars and creativity in action

September once again puts Turin at the heart of automotive culture and design. From 11 to 13 September, the city will host the third edition of Salone Auto Torino, followed on 26 and 27 September by the Festival Car International Concours d’Elegance, held in Turin and the surrounding hills. At both events, IED Turin will showcase the work of its Transportation Design students through concept cars, live sketching and collaborations with leading automotive brands.
11–13 September | Salone Auto Torino
IED Turin will take part in Salone Auto Torino with two concept cars created by students on the Master’s Course in Transportation Design: Alisea, a two-seat hypercar developed in collaboration with Pagani Automobili, and TIME, an autonomous-driving concept developed with Tesla and presented earlier this year at MAUTO as part of the A Manifesto for Future Mobility exhibition.
The two cars embody contrasting yet complementary visions of the future of mobility: Alisea’s radical sporting character and TIME’s exploration of how we experience time on board. They will be displayed together at the IED stand in the Royal Museums Gardens.
Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to watch live sketching sessions led by IED Turin lecturers, who will share the creative process, techniques and tools behind automotive design.
On Saturday, 12 September, at 3:30 pm, the Sketch Marathon will invite the public to take part in a sketch battle inspired by TIME. Equipped with a drawing board, paper and pencil, participants will be challenged to reinterpret the concept as a production-ready electric vehicle, freely defining its segment, dimensions and intended use. The same design DNA could therefore inspire a wide range of proposals, from everyday vehicles to more radical creations. The challenge is open to everyone, including those discovering automotive sketching for the first time.
26–27 September | Festival Car 2026
Festival Car 2026 will celebrate major milestones in motoring history and bring together hundreds of vehicles, including Rapida, the concept car developed in collaboration with Italdesign.
The prototype will be on display on Saturday, 26 September, at the Castle of Cavour Park in Santena, and on Sunday, 27 September, in Revigliasco Torinese. The event will conclude with the International Concours d’Elegance award ceremony. The judging panel will include Michele Albera, Transportation Design Coordinator at IED Turin.
