20 universities of, more than 30 nationalities and up to 300 glitchers

20 universities of origin, more than 30 nationalities, and up to 300 glitchers stayed overnight in the Camp set up by IED in the Milanosport - Centro Sportivo "Enrico Cappelli Savorelli" football pitch on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone 2024.

The Glitch Camp was a cultural melting pot of young people eager to discover Milan and experience all the opportunities offered by Design Week thanks to free accommodation that compensated for the high cost of staying in the city.

Just to name a few of the nationalities and origins: Spain, France, Belgium, Finland, Israel, Georgia, Germany, United Kingdom, Greece, Romania, and Russia. And also Central and South America - Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile - USA, Japan, Indonesia, and Australia.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Comune di Milano and Milanosport, we succeeded with our aim of making the Salone del Mobile week accessible and thus the heritage of design more democratic to as many young people of international origin as possible. The Glitch Camp also met the objective of guaranteeing hospitality with reduced environmental and economic impact and circularity of the products used. In fact, the production was supervised with the Piano B agency, committed precisely to reducing the environmental impact of events.

The glitchers were equipped with Ferrino's eco-design tents from the Tent Set line, a modular system that responds to specific usage needs and reduces material and product waste. Inside the tents the "perfect sleep kit" and a lounge area, both by IKEA Italia, to allow on the one hand a comfortable rest to better face the long days of visiting the Fuorisalone, and on the other moments of sharing, conviviality and fun in The Glitch Camp. Lastly, this is an example of circular economy because once The Glitch Camp has been closed, part of the IKEA Italia material has been donated to Opera San Francesco per i Poveri, so that it can be reused and destined for their shelter projects in Milan. Another part will go to the Milan Opera prison and to support the Italian Red Cross.

For the Glitchers, there was not only camping, but also the possibility of living the full experience of the design community with activities planned: collective Pilates and stretching lessons alternating with moments of discussion with designers and guests; the Glitch Breakfasts, informal meetings curated by architect Davide Fabio Colaci to bring together the protagonists of the design world; cinema by night, in collaboration with Il Cinemino, with the projection of historical films related to the city of Milan and its transformations.

The other important partners of The Glitch Camp are Fuorisalone.it and nss - Ti Odio Milano Ti Amo (media partner) Alce Nero, WAMI, CONTROL, Federlegno Arredo Eventi.
