Graphic Design Beyond Graphic Design: An afternoon of music, art direction, creativity, workshops, exhibitions, and DJ sets.

Times New Vision
New Paths for Graphic Design

IED Madrid presents Times New Vision — a day dedicated to graphic design and its many possibilities for expression and manifestation. An event to explore and enjoy graphic design beyond the limits of traditional practice—an opportunity to expand our horizons and reimagine the role of graphic designers today.

TALK: Post Graphic Design

IED Madrid Graphic Design alumni share their post-graduation experiences. From strategic design and audiovisual production to futures design, content creation, and campaign development, they’ll offer insights into the diverse realities of working as a graphic designer today.

Featuring:

  • Daniel Santiago Manchado (Estudio Brillante)

  • Paula Martín Villarejo (Invisible)

  • Melisa Illoh Flores (Marketing & Social Media)

  • Andrea López del Caño and Jaime Castiel Denis (Toi Studio)

WORKSHOP: Lucky Charms by Aida Salán

In this short creative direction and personal expression exercise, Aida Salán—art director for artists like Belén Aguilera and IED Madrid faculty member—will lead the Lucky Charms workshop.
Participants can take their creations home.

TALK: Music, Creative & Art Direction through Graphic Design

Creative and art direction are evolving fields that merge visual communication, creative production, and graphic design to build visual storytelling through motion imagery. Music videos have become essential vehicles for shaping the unique visual identities of artists.

We’ll explore the connection between music and image with:

  • Chenta Tsai (Putochinomaricón): Multidisciplinary artist, architect, and musician from Taipei, known for radically honest, hyperpop-infused music with a critical queer and post-millennial lens. A live force of political, performative energy blending glitchcore, anime, rave aesthetics, and cyberpunk.

  • Milo Hammid: 3D artist, sound designer, and creative consultant. Known for merging sound and visuals through 3D design in work for brands and artists like JW Anderson, Farfetch, BB Trickz, IVE, X-G, Cupra, and Dr. Jart, always led by fantasy and innovation.

  • Marta Ochoa: Architect, art director, and co-founder of Casa Antillón. She collaborates with musicians like Rusowsky, Ralphie Choo, and Natalia Lacunza to develop visual universes—where everyday spaces turn into set design and the stage becomes intimate and expressive.

POP-UP: Student Creations

Fanzines, publications, stickers, calendars, posters, and more by IED Madrid’s graphic design students.

EXHIBITION: Type Directors Club NY

IED Madrid hosts the TDC 70 Exhibition, showcasing winning entries from the 70th Annual International Type Directors Club Awards (New York). A celebration of outstanding typography, calligraphy, and lettering—from bold experiments to subtle, refined work in identity, editorial, posters, and more.

EXHIBITION: Abono 03 'Home' – WIP

The fourth issue of Abono magazine is underway. This multi-format meta-publication explores the urgent and timeless topic of housing, identity, and the meaning of “home” in times of crisis. Led by alumni Alex Boutiny and Claudia Campos, the exhibit will showcase the creative process—drafts, tests, articles, inspirations—usually hidden from public view.

DJ SET: Turian Boy

We’ll close the event with a DJ set by Turian Boy, aka Alejandro Vidal.
An artist, musician, and producer, Vidal is the founder of Vlex music label and IRL Studio, and a faculty member at IED Madrid. He’s one of the emerging names in Spain’s contemporary pop music scene.

SPECIAL GUEST: Julieta Wibel

Throughout the event, content creator Julieta Wibel—a communicator focused on art, graphic design, and fashion—will be joining us.

Entry is free with prior registration (limited capacity). Sign up via the form linked at the end of the official event page.
