The Waste Design Challenge is an online initiative that invites designers and creatives to redefine discarded materials by creating a design piece within a week, following a pre-established schedule of actions. This challenge aims to inspire and raise awareness about sustainability among Generation Z creators and encourage them to use unconventional materials, fostering innovative thinking, ingenuity and creativity and highlighting the importance of reducing our ecological footprint.
Participants join via social media and the challenge website, uploading their projects along with video blogs and photos, helping to build a global community of like-minded creatives dedicated to sustainable design and caring for the environment. These will be spaces to connect and share ideas, discoveries and results, and share processes.
This not only highlights the potential of selective collection, but also contributes to rethinking our consumption habits. By inviting participants to share their creations online, a digital connection is fostered that spreads awareness and triggers a movement that encourages sustainable design practices and consumption habits.
This project received the award for best project in the Interior Design / Interior Architecture / Sustainable Design category at the Arts Thread Global Creative Graduate Showcase.
