The Master's Program in Fashion Curation of IED Firenze and IED Milano offers students a conceptual journey in which Art and Fashion meet, eliminating traditional boundaries and fostering a creative, stimulating, and interdisciplinary dialogue.

The Master's Program in Fashion Curation prepares professionals in an ever-changing sector, where fashion is no longer limited to clothing, but as an all-round artistic expression. In the context of fashion, art curators are responsible for conceiving, organising and managing exhibitions as well as installations that tell the story of fashion. They explore social and cultural topics through clothing and accessories and promote emerging designers.

Fashion Curators enhance the dynamic intersection between art and fashion. These two areas mutually influence each other and create new expressive and commercial spaces.

You will attend the Master's Program in Fashion Curation lessons between Florence and Milan: the two most internationally recognised Italian cities in the fashion industry.

The Master's Program in Fashion Curation of IED Firenze and IED Milano trains curators that will be capable of transforming a simple product, dress or accessory into a complex cultural event, working on events, reinterpretation of spaces and publications.

Students will be guided through an interdisciplinary approach in exploring the multiple aspects of fashion as an artistic and social phenomenon. The Master's Program aims to explore aesthetic, social, and psychological themes, stimulating critical reflection and the search for new perspectives.
Students will be encouraged to explore the role of fashion in the development of individual and collective identity. They will analyse its impact on gender dynamics, consumption and sustainability.

Thanks to the Master's Program in Fashion Curation, students will acquire curatorial skills and develop a critical as well as insightful vision of the world of fashion. This is made possible through workshops; visits to archives, museums and galleries; publications; and collaborative projects with fashion brands as well as cultural institutions.

This Master Course offers you the conceptual and practical tools you need to learn how to interpret and enhance the complexity and uniqueness of the art-fashion combination.

The Master's Program in Fashion Curation of IED Firenze and IED Milano is aimed at students with a First Level Academic Diploma- Bachelor’s Degree. To access the Master Course, students need a basic knowledge of art history, fashion, design principles and visual communication tools.

The ideal candidates:

  • possess a highly developed aesthetic sense that allows them to recognise the cultural and artistic value of clothes as well as accessories.
  • can conduct research and critical analysis, essential for interpreting and contextualising fashion projects.

The Master's Program in Fashion Curation of IED Firenze and IED Milano prepares students to embark on a versatile and creative career. Thanks to this Master Course, students will be able to design, organise and manage both exhibitions and events that explore the intersection between art and fashion. Furthermore, students will be able to curate exhibitions that enhance cultural and artistic heritage, promoting both emerging and established designers.
Students will gain skills to analyse and interpret contemporary trends, create visually engaging narratives, and manage complex exhibition projects.

Students will have the opportunity to curate exhibitions in collaboration with museums, art galleries, cultural institutions, brands, and exhibition spaces. Additionally, they will be able to work in more corporate contexts such as fairs and fashion events, thereby contributing to the innovation and enrichment of the cultural and creative scene. 

It is also possible for students to pursue research paths in the field of fashion and costume history.
