Learn how to integrate traditional craft techniques with innovative materials and technologies to create contemporary, sustainable fashion with a distinctive identity.

The Master in Fashion Craftsmanship at IED Madrid offers specialised training that brings together tradition, innovation and sustainability.

Through a practical and experimental approach, you will learn to reinterpret traditional craft techniques—such as embroidery, weaving and textile manipulation—and explore how to give them new meaning within a contemporary design context. The programme examines the relationship between craftsmanship and technology, exploring materials, processes and digital tools that expand the creative and expressive possibilities of today’s fashion industry.

It also encourages critical reflection on the role of the craftsperson in the contemporary landscape, fostering projects that connect cultural heritage with innovation and sustainable practice. Throughout the master, you will work in well-equipped workshops and laboratories, developing collections and unique pieces in collaboration with designers, brands and industry professionals.

This programme is taught at IED Madrid Gran Vía - Palacio de Altamira.

Information to decide

A training experience grounded in craft practice and projected towards contemporary fashion through design, experimentation and technological innovation.

The programme combines theoretical classes, practical workshops and collaborative projects that integrate technical knowledge, material experimentation and conceptual reflection. Its methodology promotes creativity, autonomy and a critical design practice.

The programme is structured around five areas:

  • Culture, Design and Society, to understand the cultural and creative context of craftsmanship.
  • Craft Management, focused on innovation, materials and contemporary craft practices.
  • Technical Area, dedicated to embroidery, printing, garment construction and textile manipulation.
  • Applied Projects, where students develop collections and prototypes.
  • Entrepreneurship, centred on management, strategy and professional positioning.

The programme concludes with a Master’s Final Project, synthesising the knowledge acquired into a personal proposal in contemporary fashion craftsmanship.

Designed for graduates in Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Architecture or other design disciplines, as well as professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge of craft processes, textile experimentation and innovation applied to fashion.

The master positions craftsmanship at the core of contemporary design, exploring its dialogue with technological innovation and new materials.

Through hands-on learning in workshops and specialised labs, students investigate traditional textile techniques and reinterpret them to develop personal projects with a current and forward-looking vision of fashion.

Taught in Madrid—an international reference in culture and design—the programme draws on a creative environment where tradition, industry and experimentation coexist. Ranked among the world’s top 20 fashion schools by CEOWORLD Magazine 2025, IED’s School of Fashion combines international prestige, practical training and a global network that strengthens the professional projection of its students.
