“The most exciting aspect is definitely the human side. Building connections with people from completely different cultures and countries makes you realise that the distance between us is often only imaginary, and that we have far more in common than we think.”
If you had to describe this experience in one word, what would it be?
It’s impossible to describe it in just one word. It’s something you feel more than you can explain. All I know is that it feels like living in a dream.
Can you tell us about your role and what a typical day looks like?
At the Olympics, I work as a Video Logger. Throughout the day, I follow the competitions in real time and log the key actions according to standardized procedures, so that the footage can be easily retrieved by those who need it.
How has what you learned in the BA in Media Design at IED helped you in this role?
The main skill I developed at IED and brought into this experience is the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and to be flexible in terms of roles, tools, and ways of working.
What does it mean to work in such an international and multicultural environment?
Working in such an international context, where everyone comes from a different background, might seem unusual, but it actually makes me feel at home. Everyone is open to sharing their traditions, as if you were part of a family.
How important is teamwork?
To manage an event as large and complex as the Olympics, communication and coordination are essential. Only by working in sync is it possible to ensure that every process runs smoothly and effectively.
