IED Brazil Coordinator Joins CDSA International Jury and Represents the Institution at Event in China

Professor and coordinator of the Undergraduate programs in Graphic and Digital Design and the Postgraduate program in Communication Design and Creative Strategies at IED Brazil, Eliane Weizmann, joined the international jury of CDSA – City Digital Skin Art, one of the leading global initiatives exploring the relationship between art, technology, and the city.
As part of this new role, Eliane participated in the official launch program of the 2026 edition of the competition, held in China, representing IED Brazil in a program that brought together universities, cultural institutions, researchers, artists, and professionals from different parts of the world.
Her participation reinforces IED’s international presence and expands the institution’s dialogue with initiatives that explore the challenges and possibilities of design, public art, and innovation on a global scale.
What is City Digital Skin Art?
City Digital Skin Art (CDSA) is an international initiative that explores new forms of public art through so-called “urban digital skins”: façades, large screens, and digital surfaces found in cities.
Rather than simply using these supports as exhibition spaces, the project encourages reflection on how technology, architecture, and urban life can come together to create new collective experiences.
In each edition, students, artists, researchers, and creative professionals are invited to develop projects capable of transforming data, narratives, and contemporary issues into digital artworks displayed in different cities around the world.
In 2026, the competition’s theme invites participants to explore the world of oceans, using science, technology, and visual language to raise awareness of marine conservation.
How the Invitation to Join the International Jury Came About
The connection between Eliane Weizmann and the CDSA organization began during discussions about the possibility of expanding the initiative’s visibility in Brazil and developing future connections with Sao Paulo.
Following these discussions, the coordinator was invited to join the competition’s international jury. Her name was submitted to the organizing committee and approved for inclusion in the group of experts responsible for following the 2026 edition of the festival.
The invitation also led to the professor’s participation in the event’s official launch program, held in China.
An Agenda for Academic, Cultural, and Institutional Exchange
The program began in Beijing, with visits to the China Artists Association and the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair, one of the country’s leading international contemporary art fairs.
The delegation then traveled to Hangzhou, where Eliane visited the China Academy of Art and gave a lecture to students from the Public Art and Sculpture programs. The agenda also included visits to museums and a studio specializing in glass art, promoting exchanges between different artistic and academic practices.
The trip concluded with the official launch ceremony of the 2026 edition of CDSA, during which Eliane participated as an international jury member and delivered an institutional presentation at the event.
