The Latin Grammy Awards—the highest recognition in Latin music, presented by the Latin Recording Academy to honor and celebrate the quality and creativity of Latin music—have announced their finalists for the 2025 edition.
Among the nominees is director Willy Rodríguez, for the music video “Cura pa mi alma” by singer Vera GRV, competing in the category Best Short Form Music Video.
Willy Rodríguez is an alumnus of IED Madrid, where he studied Graphic Communication and completed a Master’s in Motion Graphics. He later worked for three and a half years as Creative Director at Yelmo Cines, then as Creative Video Director and Audiovisual A&R at Sony Music until 2020, producing projects around the world. He currently works as a freelance director, collaborating with major record labels and independent companies, mainly creating music videos.
He has directed videos for Kase.O, Nach, Melendi, Dvicio, Aitana, Marwan, Rozalén, Alejandro Sanz, Joaquín Sabina, and David Bisbal, among others.
He won the Los 40 Principales Award for Best National Music Video in 2018 with “Déjala que baile” by Melendi and Alejandro Sanz, which has surpassed 56 million views on YouTube.
He has been nominated twice before at the Latin Grammy Music Awards: once in 2016 for Best Long Form Music Video with the documentary “Justo ahora y siempre” about the band Dvicio, and again in 2019 for Best Short Form Music Video with “Los zurdos mueren antes” by Nach.
