Two scholarships for BA in Fashion Design.
Sabato De Sarno has chosen to support education at IED Firenze through two scholarships dedicated to the First-Level Academic Diploma (DAPL) in Fashion Design, helping to broaden access to the program and enhance the most deserving profiles.
An initiative born from the desire to offer concrete opportunities and support talent during the training phase, creating the conditions for a vocation to develop into a professional path.
An Italian designer, Sabato De Sarno began his career in the fashion world collaborating with Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. In 2009, he joined Valentino, where he served as Fashion Director. Appointed Creative Director of Gucci in 2023, he concluded his tenure in February 2025. De Sarno is passionate about art and design—fields that nourish his aesthetic research and his perspective on the world.
The three-year Fashion Design program at IED Firenze combines artisanal knowledge with advanced technologies, fostering dialogue between tailoring expertise and cutting-edge digital tools: from garment construction to 3D design, from materials to experimentation, with a strong focus on sustainability and design culture.
Located in a region with one of the most solid and internationally recognized fashion supply chains, the program offers an immersive experience in close contact with industrial processes and artisanal skills, transforming the production context into a real laboratory: from concept to prototype, through to a mature, contemporary proposal ready to engage with the global market.
The educational path unfolds over three years: the first year builds a solid, cross-disciplinary foundation of technical, cultural, and design skills; the second year is dedicated to experimentation and the development of individual style through capsule collections, workshops, and interdisciplinary activities; the third year focuses on the design of a personal collection, developed within a professional simulation context and culminating in the final thesis project.
Thanks to the support of Sabato De Sarno, the two scholarships offer a concrete opportunity to access a program of academic excellence. The goal is to foster the growth of conscious and innovative designers, capable of interpreting—with responsibility and vision—the transformations of the contemporary fashion system.
