IED offers comprehensive support to students seeking accommodation in the cities where its campuses are located. While IED does not provide on-campus housing, it has established agreements with various residences and housing providers to assist students in finding suitable living arrangements.

For specific information about housing options, prospective students and parents are encouraged to visit the accommodation section of the IED website corresponding to their city of interest or contact the campus's student services directly (e.g. Milan, Barcelona, Florence, Madrid

The application process at IED involves three main steps:

  1. Submit your application: Complete the online application form available on the IED website.

  1. Take your Admissions Test: Depending on the chosen program, this may include a portfolio review, written test, or interview.

  1. Finalize your registration and course enrollment: Upon successful admission, complete the necessary administrative procedures to enroll in your course.

Portfolio requirements vary by program but generally should showcase your creativity, technical skills, and relevant experience. It's advisable to include a selection of your best works that reflect your passion and proficiency in the chosen field.

Application deadlines differ based on the program and intake period. IED operates on a rolling admissions basis, with applications opening one year before the course start date. Given the limited number of seats available for each class, we strongly recommend applying as early as possible. Admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, so early applicants have a greater chance of securing a place in their preferred program.

IED's programs are designed with a strong emphasis on practical experience and industry engagement. The curriculum typically includes:

  • Hands-on Workshops: Allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings.

  • Collaborative Projects: Partnering with companies and professionals to work on real-world challenges.

  • International Experiences: Opportunities for study trips, exchange programs, and global networking to enhance students' perspectives and career opportunities.

This approach ensures that students graduate with both the academic knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in their careers.

IED offers programs taught in English, Italian, and Spanish, depending on the course and location. Many undergraduate and postgraduate courses are available in English to accommodate international students.

Prospective students can filter courses by language on the IED website to find programs that match their language preferences.

The cost of living in Italy and Spain is generally lower than in the USA. In Italy, Milan is the most expensive city, though still more affordable than major US cities like New York or Los Angeles. Florence and other smaller cities offer more affordable living options. In Spain, Madrid and Barcelona are the most expensive cities, but rent and daily expenses are still significantly cheaper than in the US. Both countries offer affordable public transportation and dining, making them student-friendly locations.

IED graduates have strong career opportunities both locally and internationally. Thanks to IED’s strong industry connections and Career Offices, students often secure internships and jobs at leading global companies in design, fashion, communication, and visual arts. Many graduates have joined renowned brands such as:

  • Fashion & Luxury: Gucci, Prada, Valentino, Balenciaga

  • Design & Architecture: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alessi

  • Communication & Marketing: Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi, Vogue

The combination of hands-on experience, industry collaborations, and career support ensures that IED students are well-prepared for global job opportunities.
