Explore how artificial intelligence can expand your creative processes through a practical and interdisciplinary summer experience.

The Summer Junior in Creativity and Artificial Intelligence is an English-taught course that introduces the use of artificial intelligence in creative contexts. Through a transversal methodology based on experimentation, creative thinking and project-based learning, students discover how to integrate AI tools into a design project.

At a time when artificial intelligence is transforming the ways we conceive, produce and communicate content, the programme offers a broad perspective on the digital creative ecosystem.

During the course, students explore different languages and disciplines — such as video, sound, photography and illustration — understanding AI not only as a technical tool but also as a conceptual resource for developing new ideas.

Learning is structured through collaborative dynamics, practical workshops and experimental exercises that combine creativity, technology, analogue work and storytelling. Students work on the development of a group project in which they research, prototype and present a creative proposal using artificial intelligence tools, alongside the creation of both manual and technological prototypes. At the end of the programme, participants present their final project in an exhibition format that brings together ideation processes, creative direction and digital production.

This programme is taught at IED Madrid Gran Vía - Palacio de Altamira.

Information to decide

An experience in English where you can discover the enormous potential of artificial intelligence as a creative tool.

Learning combines theoretical foundations and key concepts of artificial intelligence with practical group work, under the guidance of a teaching team made up of professionals currently active in the field.

A large part of the programme takes place in the MediaLAB at IED Madrid, a space equipped with the latest technology, where students will work with AI tools, platforms and software applied to video, sound, photography and illustration.

The course is organised around practical workshops, experimental exercises and collaborative activities that encourage curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. It concludes with the presentation of a final project that integrates art direction and digital production.

The course is aimed at young people aged 14 to 18 with curious minds and a creative outlook, interested in exploring artificial intelligence and learning how to apply it to enhance their projects and creative ideas.

The Summer Junior in Creativity and Artificial Intelligence offers a unique experience to open your mind to new possibilities and discover the potential of your creativity.

Over two weeks, you will share the course with students who have similar interests, work on collaborative projects, practise your English and receive guidance from professional teachers from the creative sector.

You will study in the heart of Madrid’s design and art district, Carabanchel, a creative environment in constant transformation where design studios, cultural spaces, workshops and independent projects coexist. This ecosystem makes the campus an open place for experimentation, exchange and collaboration with professionals from the sector.

Syllabus

The course combines theory and practice to offer a complete journey through artificial intelligence applied to creativity. Each module is designed so that students understand fundamental concepts, experiment with AI tools and develop their own creative projects.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
You will learn the basic concepts of AI and its application in creative fields. You will understand how AI works and its potential within artistic and creative processes.

Prompts
You will explore how to formulate effective instructions to generate content using AI. You will develop communication skills with AI tools in order to obtain precise creative results.

Creative Applications
You will discover how AI can enhance creativity across different disciplines. You will learn to integrate AI as a support tool in the development of original ideas.

Image AIs, Illustration AIs, Photography AIs, Video AIs, Sound AIs
Each practical module focuses on the application of AI in a specific medium, experimenting with different tools and models to generate content in various formats and learning techniques adapted to each discipline.

Project
The final block integrates everything learned into a personal or group project. You will apply the knowledge acquired in practice, fostering creativity, teamwork and visual and digital communication skills. The project will include the following stages:

  • Research: researching and analysing references and creative possibilities.
  • Art Direction: planning the artistic direction of the project.
  • Development: creating the project using AI tools.
  • Presentation: communicating the results in a professional way.
