In-person event
Next october, the IED team will travel to México with Javier Royo, designer, illustrator, creativity expert, and lecturer at IED Kunsthal Bilbao.
During his visit, Royo will give a series of workshops and lectures in collaboration with local academic partners. From october 10th to 17th, he will visit some of the most renowned Mexican universities in the field of the creative industries.
Under the title "Creativity to Provoke... Illustration and Graphic Design from a Social Perspective", the conference will be held in different cities. It will address how graphic illustration can be a narrative, critical, and emotional engine within contemporary graphic design.
Through iconic examples—from the conceptual ingenuity of Saul Steinberg to the poetic sensibility of Malika Favre—the conference will explore illustration's ability to communicate, generate empathy, and create connection.
The creative process in both illustration and graphic design will also be discussed, highlighting how they interact and feed back into each other in real-life projects. Specific examples of illustration applied to visual identities, campaigns, publications, and physical environments will serve as inspiration for attendees.
