On 11 April, within the framework of the Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture programme, and as part of the European project Feed Your Future and the activities celebrating the 60th anniversary of IED · Plural Intelligences, IED Barcelona organised the “Urban Picnic” initiative in Plaça de la Virreina.
An initiative involving around 200 participants, which transformed the public space of this emblematic location in the Gràcia neighbourhood into a place for coexistence, reflection and everyday activism through the act of sharing food with local residents, organisations and community stakeholders.
The “Urban Picnic” thus provided an opportunity to rethink our relationship with food, sustainability and climate change from a more conscious, collective and responsible perspective.
The activity was complemented by workshops focused on food reuse and the promotion of local, seasonal ingredients.
