IED Barcelona inaugurates 2023-2024 academic year with undergraduate programme students

The new students were able to orient themselves with the IED universe

On Friday, 15 September, the academic year at IED Barcelona officially began for first year students of the Degrees in Design, BA (Hons) and IED Diplomas with the celebration of Welcome Event. The activity was divided into two parts: a first institutional part during which the new students could meet the management and academic team of the Barcelona school and listen to a speech by Giovanni Ottonello, IED Group Art Director, and a second festive part where students from other courses joined together around a guest DJ.

Later, from 18 to 22 September, the students took part in Welcome Week, an orientation event with the IED universe, during which they conducted various activities and workshops in an atmosphere of community co-creation.

Four members of the IED community among the ten experts on the jury of the 5th CarDesign.es Awards

They are Raffaella Perrone, Director of IED Barcelona, and Domenico Lee, lecturer at IED Torino, both returning after serving on the jury at the previous edition, alongside alumni Marta Beltrán and Alessia Lorelay, graduates of the Barcelona and Turin campuses, respectively.

Collections from the IED creative community bring creativity and talent to 080 Barcelona Fashion

Acceptance Letter, Compte Spain and L’Amar took to the runway at the international fashion event’s most diverse and original edition yet, presenting three collections that celebrated humour, experimented with exaggerated volumes and paid tribute to resistance.

“Valor Ancestral: Latam Creative Talent 2026” makes a stop at IED Barcelona

Following its presentation at IED Madrid and ahead of its move to IED Kunsthal Bilbao, the latest edition of the international exhibition, an initiative promoted by IED since 2022, was on display to coincide with the Barcelona campus’s activities as part of Barcelona Design Week.

Acceptance Letter, the label founded by IED Barcelona lecturer Jeakyong Sim, wins the 080 Barcelona Fashion / Rec.0 competition

The label has been recognised as the best emerging local fashion proposal in the 15th edition of the initiative, which has previously awarded IED alumni such as Guillermo Justicia and Elna Solans.

From 4 to 7 November, she will showcase her creations entered in a competition for emerging designers who use materials and processes aimed at reducing waste, as part of the festival’s Fashion Design Schools Exhibition at the Igualada Leather Museum (Barcelona).
