The works suggest solutions to conserve and use the oceans, seas and marine resources in a sustainable manner

On Wednesday, 11 October at 5 pm, Raffaella Perrone, Director of IED Barcelona’s Design Department, presented at the 61st Barcelona International Boat Show a fine selection of projects by the school’s students that highlight the response of design to cooperation and sustainable design for underwater life.

In collaboration with the Port de Barcelona and Fundació Capital Nàutica, Perrone showcased various works that link with SDGs at the Àgora Port space in the Port de Barcelona, specifically with SDG 14, Life Below Water.

The highlighted projects included:

● “Plastic Nostrum”, “Nymphea” and “Reddo”, all of which focus on conserving underwater life and landscape.

● “Blau orgasmic, as well as other product design projects made with fishing nets, boat sails or biomaterials geared towards using the sea as a resource in order to rethink waste, recycling and reusing for a circular economy also in the oceans.

● And the design-based awareness campaign entitled “The sea is one and so are we”, which IED Barcelona students created for Open Arms in order to view the sea as a place in which to save, respect and collaborate.
