With the aim of promoting inclusion through design, for the third consecutive year IED Barcelona has collaborated with Fundació Setba within the “Magistrals/Premi Setba” program — an award that recognizes the artistic talent of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
On one hand, after visiting the Les Corts Occupational Center in March, where they received a screen printing class, first-year students of the Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design conducted in May a practical typography workshop for the 29 finalist artists of the award. The activity took place at the Point One facilities, tutored by Susana Soriano Zarco, coordinator of the Master School, offering a valuable opportunity to work on co-creation without barriers and to promote social transformation.
In addition, a design by Frida Sotomayor, a first-year Graphic Design student, combining the finalist artworks from 2025 with inspirational phrases from the artists themselves, was selected to produce a notebook that will be given to participants of Fundació Setba’s projects in 2026.
The proposal, chosen among five finalists, was presented during the Setba Award Ceremony, held at the CaixaForum Barcelona Auditorium on 6 October. During the event, it was also announced that, for the second consecutive year, IED will once again offer the winning artist, along with 12 members of their organization, a digital photography masterclass titled “Digital Portrait – retrato digital” on 24 October.
