Students, design professionals, universities and companies gather in Mexico to rethink the services of the Mexican capital

From October 17th to 21st, Design Net / Experience the City took place in Mexico, a laboratory of ideas where students, design professionals, universities and companies met to improve the quality of life of citizens through improved services from the city. Based on a global, collaborative and creative platform that emerged from a first edition in Madrid, together with IED in May 2010.

This academic and cultural event included 17 universities, 16 cities, 1,600 students and 100 professionals for the development of a training program based on 13 seminars and 50 workshops.

The IED Madrid along with the Universidad Anáhuac and the Secretaría de Desarrollo Urbano y Vivienda (SEDUVI) were the organizers of this initiative carried out in different places of Mexico City.

During the program they sought to put the citizen at the center of the entire process and reflect on urban development and have investigated the following concepts: The Net City, The Neighborhood Utopia, Sustainability, Mobility, Living Spaces and Culture, and Urban Training.  

The main objectives were to increase business cooperation and collaboration among the institutions in strategic sectors; define new work and business sectors that promote the creation of a new international creative industry; create a common platform for all the actors that make up the creative industries; offer an online and physical space to promote an innovative, competitive and cutting-edge image of the companies which participate in the project; and help generate a different and positive communication linked to innovation and the creation of good urban practices.
