The co-founder and director of FarmLab reflected on design as a tool for building a more sustainable future connected with nature
Silvia Brandi was the protagonist of the fifth episode and closing event of the second season of IED MUSES Talks: Decoding Inspirational Minds. During the talk, held at IED Barcelona on 6 May, the architect, cultural manager and co-founder of FarmLab shared with the audience her professional journey across architectural design, educational innovation and international collaborative projects focused on revitalising rural areas through creativity and sustainability.
During the event, Brandi championed curiosity as a driving force for transformation and design as a tool capable of generating a positive impact on the world. She also reflected on the need to rethink the relationship between cities and nature, defending the importance of incorporating a long-term perspective into design and sustainability processes.
Drawing on her experience at FarmLab, Brandi explained how rural environments can become spaces for innovation and learning, where slowness, limitations and a connection with the surroundings foster new forms of creativity. She also highlighted the value of artisanal knowledge, interdisciplinary exchange and optimism as an essential attitude for facing present and future challenges.
