Rome and Bilbao explored through the relationship between humans and technology, digital explorations, and cultural influences.
The month-long mobile design project in Rome has concluded, involving Graphic Design (Link) students from Bilbao and Media Design (Link) and Sound Design (Link) students from IED, who worked on creating an interactive exhibit on the theme of Together Apart. The project explores the relationship between presence and isolation, between humans and technology, and offers visitors a journey of visual, audiovisual, and performative experiences. The students explored the two cities to capture the sounds, images, and the culture that form the foundation of their communities, transforming them into artistic expressions.
The final result took the form of a nomadic installation, which will also travel between Rome and Bilbao to showcase the outcomes of the collaboration to the same intercultural audience that inspired it. The exhibition features three distinct projects resulting from the work of three teams: “talking walls,” video mapping experiences and graphic installations conceived as mutant site-specific artworks.
The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Program, which increasingly integrates the Blended Mobility model: an educational approach that combines periods of physical mobility in another country with learning activities in a virtual environment, offering a comprehensive, dynamic educational experience connected to the European landscape.
