Mina Barchi and Stella Ferrazo, Product Design graduates from IED Barcelona, are the designers of the award for the 18th ‘Premi Dona i Esport ‘—an annual recognition by the Barcelona City Council honouring women athletes, managers, communicators, and promoters of sports, as well as groups and clubs that foster a more inclusive, equitable, and transformative sporting practice.
Over several months, Barchi and Ferrazo developed the entire design process of the project —from conceptualisation to final production— resulting in a piece that evokes the transformative strength of women in sports.
The sculpture consists of two interlocking rings that symbolise an orbit of growth: the smaller one represents the young athlete, while the larger one embodies an inspiring future where women trace an infinite and empowering path for generations to come.
