The Master's Program in Screenwriting, Film Directing and Production aims to train professionals equipped to meet the challenges of a continuously evolving film industry, through a methodology that closely integrates theory and practice. The programme covers both the creative aspects of concept development and storytelling, and a thorough understanding of the dynamics that shape the entire process of producing and distributing a film or television project.
Over the two-year programme, students will acquire advanced and up-to-date skills under the guidance of lecturers who hold significant professional positions within the industry, and through ongoing engagement with the film industry. Milan, now home to some of the leading television broadcasters and major production companies, is becoming an increasingly strategic hub for the sector. This dialogue with industry professionals will enable students to develop a professional network that will provide a fundamental foundation for their artistic and professional growth within the field.
The Master's Program offers a learning experience strongly focused on practice-based workshops, founded on a clear principle: cinema is learned by making it. Direct practical experience is combined with a solid cultural and theoretical foundation, considered essential within a continuous exchange between academic knowledge and creative experimentation.
The programme’s educational objectives include an in-depth understanding of film narrative structure, the dramaturgical development of a story, a comprehensive understanding of the production process of audiovisual works, both cinematic and television-based, and the creation of a fiction short film as the final thesis project.
The two-year Master's Program in Screenwriting, Film Directing and Production is intended for students holding a First-Level Academic Diploma, a Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad in film, audiovisual studies, humanities, or the arts.
The Master's Program prepares highly qualified professionals with specialised expertise in the three core areas of study, enabling them to conceive, develop and produce original film projects, while recognising that all professional roles are embedded within the production process and therefore require a comprehensive understanding of its dynamics.

For students interested in pursuing a professional career in screenwriting (either as screenwriters or story editors), the curriculum focuses on developing advanced skills in the analysis and writing of concepts, treatments and screenplays for both cinema and television series. Particular attention is devoted to narrative structures, character development and genre studies.

For students pursuing a professional pathway in film directing, the two-year programme aims to foster a conscious authorial vision oriented towards the cinematic adaptation of a narrative project, whether a short or feature-length film. Students will develop the skills required to manage all stages of production, including pre-production activities (such as scene breakdowns, shot listing, casting and rehearsals with actors), on-set work (directing performers and coordinating all departments of the film crew), and post-production processes (editing, sound design and music).

For students intending to pursue a career in audiovisual production, the programme aims to prepare professionals capable of managing the various stages of production: the creative development of film and serial projects; project design and financing; budget management; production organisation; post-production; and distribution. The ultimate objective is to train professionals able to oversee the entire production process and engage effectively with writers, directors and the different professionals involved at every stage.
Graduates of the programme will be distinguished by a solid technical and cultural background. Alongside the specific operational skills associated with each professional area (screenwriting, film directing and production), the curriculum is designed to strengthen critical thinking, aesthetic awareness and the development of a personal creative vision, all of which are essential for engaging consciously and creatively with the contemporary film and audiovisual industries.
Graduates will develop expertise in identifying and assessing film and television projects with potential appeal to specific audience segments. The programme provides practical tools for managing creative and technical teams, planning and supervising the different stages of production, securing and managing funding, and acquiring fundamental legal knowledge, particularly in relation to copyright law. It also develops the interpersonal and collaborative skills required to work effectively with all stakeholders across the audiovisual production chain.
