The three brands have shown proposals that delve into the identity of each of them and reinforce what differentiates them. Paolo Leduc with his ‘Sons of tailoring’ collection, Reparto with their ‘Reality Show’ and Carlota Barrera with her queer tailoring

Barcelona has once again become the catwalk for one of the most eagerly awaited fashion events with the 34th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, the fashion week in which national designers and brands are presenting their spring-summer 2025 or autumn-winter 24/25 collections in a see now, buy now format.

Following its philosophy of recent years, 080 Barcelona Fashion once again puts the focus on sustainability, emphasising the importance of creating and consuming durable garments that escape the ephemeral nature of trends.

Among the proposals presented by 24 Spanish designers and brands, Istituto Europeo di Design is present through three labels: Carlota Barrera and Reparto (Margil Peña and Ana Viglione), from IED Madrid, and Paolo Leduc, from IED Barcelona.

Carlota Barrera

For its second year, Carlota Barrera presents her proposal on this catwalk. In this edition, she has unveiled a collection that explores the tension between opposites and that reiterates her queer vision: restriction and liberation, masculine and feminine, structure and fluidity. Through tailoring and fabric manipulation, the garments play with different proportions and shapes. Ruffled shirts, fluid jackets with pleats and asymmetrical trousers illustrate this contrast, with handcrafted details such as waxed thread or embroidery in earth, ivory and black tones, and nostalgic accessories such as shells and ashtrays. Each piece is an exploration of balance between tension and release.

Carlota Barrera has an outstanding career in our country, having received recognition and awards, such as Vogue Fashion Fund in Spain in 2019 or Premio Talento Novel de la Academia de la Moda Española last June, as well as receiving nominations for Premio Mejor Colección and Premio Mejor Presentación.

Reparto

Margil Peña and Ana Viglione, better known as Reparto, have made their debut at 080 Barcelona Fashion with ‘Reality Show’, a collection inspired by the harsh reality that attempts to adapt to the industry with designs that reflect the consequences of getting a brand off the ground. The proposal creates characters that present themes that go beyond fashion and that deal with experiences related to commitment, blocking, ephemerality, endless hours in the workshop or manias. This collection shows the colder side of the brand with a touch of sobriety, without forgetting the humour that characterises it.

"Reality Show" is composed of genderless garments in which neutral tones predominate, with touches of pink and red. Among the tailoring techniques, upcycling stands out, reaffirming the brand's distinctive style.

Reparto, established in 2019, won Allianz EGO Confidence in Fashion Award at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in September 2022, after having been finalists in September 2021. The brand has also walked Allianz EGO catwalk and competed for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Awards at three editions of MBFW (2021, 2022, 2023). Also, they designed the workers' uniform for ARCO contemporary art fair, in 2023.

Paolo Leduc

This is the third time Paolo Leduc has walked the catwalk at 080 Barcelona Fashion. Always interested in creating with his own style inspired by everything related to theatre, cinema and nature, he first studied Graphic Design at IED Barcelona where he would later change to Fashion Design, graduating in 2019 and being selected to participate in the fashion show held at the Guggenheim Museum on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the arrival of IED in Spain.

On Barcelona's fashion catwalk he presented ‘Sons of Tailoring’. A proposal that stems from his roots, reflecting the baroque essence of his Spanish origins and the classical and artisanal approach of French influences. The proposal is characterised by the distortion of classical shapes, the deconstruction of garments and the use of digital printing with trompe-l'oeil, manipulating fabrics to reinterpret silhouettes.

Sun and shadow, light and dark are the energy that feeds the designs and the DNA of Paolo Leduc's brand, where tailoring is hybridised with haute couture, rock and streetwear as the main pillars.

Carlota Barrera's fashion show took place on Tuesday, 15 October. Reparto walked the catwalk on the 16th and Paolo Leduc the 17th of October.

The four designers of the three brands studied at IED Madrid (Carlota Barrera & Reparto) and IED Barcelona (Paolo Leduc). In addition, Reparto and Carlota Berrera are now members of the faculty at IED Madrid; Carlota Barrera in Diploma en Fashion Business, while Reparto are Programme Leaders of Máster de Diseño de Moda. They also form part of the panel of tutors for the Final Degree project of the students of Título de Grado de Moda.
