The fashion collection by Sofia Mazzucchelli, an alumnus of the Master in Design for Sustainable Fashion Technology, demonstrates her commitment to regenerative fashion, innovation in materials, and the fusion of craftsmanship with technology.
‘Walking Gardens’, a sustainable fashion collection that transforms garments into living ecosystems, has won the prestigious Lenzing Young Scientist Award, an international accolade recognising the research work of young talent in the textile and nonwovens industries.
Designed by IED Barcelona alumnus Sofia Mazzucchelli for the Master in Design for Sustainable Fashion Technology, the design fuses biodesign, sustainability and craftsmanship, integrating chia and alfalfa plants into crocheted fabrics that help the human body better adapt to climate change through biomimicry.
Sofia Mazzucchelli received her prize at the awards ceremony held on 10 September in Dornbirn, Austria.
