For another year running, IED Barcelona has participated in the festival Future Days. A space for systemic thinkers, creative innovators, purpose-driven organisations and change-makers to reflect and discuss transformative futures. The second edition, held in Estufa Fria, Lisbon, from 30 April to 2 May, focused on the exploration of “symbiotic futures” as its main theme. Scenarios in which different disciplines and approaches work together to generate positive and sustainable change.
The Design School was represented by Manuela Procopio, Academic Manager, and Marina Ojan, Head of the Master School, along with students from the Master in Strategic Design Management.
Procopio formed part of the festival’s panel of experts, completed by Isao Miyama, Partner at PwC Future Design Lab, and Nuno Comando, Director of Casa do Impacto.
In her speech, she stressed the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, and argued that creativity is the nexus between technological innovation, ecological thinking and social impact. She also explained how IED Barcelona encourages students to work beyond the traditional boundaries of each discipline, learning to think in terms of relationships and interdependencies from an ethical, systemic, regenerative and educational perspective.
Prior to the festival, Marina Ojan travelled to Lisbon to accompany students from the Master in Strategic Design Management, who presented their research and innovative proposals on the future of food to the companies Sovena and Salutem, as part of their collaboration with Transformative Times.
Future Days is a global platform led by Uri Casademont and Maria Sahade, IED Barcelona alumni from the Master in Strategic Design Management, which seeks to bring together leaders and experts to imagine and build more sustainable and collaborative futures.
