During the month of the brides, four looks of alumni from the last edition of the Postgraduate in Design of Wedding and Ceremony Dresses have also been exhibited in the windows of the Hotel Majestic and the firm Gratacós

A new edition of the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) took place from 19 to 23 April. Once again, the leading bridal fashion show included the participation of IED Barcelona, a regular actor at the event and the only fashion design school represented at this important date for the international industry.

With 34 designers, more than 300 firms and 30 countries represented, over five days, the BBFW revealed the direction the sector will take in the coming years. A course that, without a doubt, will be marked by sustainability; a value that is increasingly present in bridal collections, as seen in the proposals of the leading national and international firms, and also in the case of young talent from IED Barcelona.

In the central Village of the Bridal event, Postgraduate in Design of Wedding and Ceremony Dresses alumni exhibited four projects that pay special attention to materials and select highly durable textiles manufactured in a way that is kind to the people and the environment. The dresses were displayed on Handsboodt mannequins made with quality and sustainable materials, following the identity of IED Barcelona.

In addition, within the field of awareness-raising, the Design School presented samples of natural and eco-friendly, advanced and traditional fabrics, as well as recycled materials, to the bridal ecosystem, in a bid to contribute to creating innovative solutions to promote sustainable fashion.

April, the month of the brides

In parallel, from 14 to 24 April, the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona showcased three looks by alumni from the last edition of the Postgraduate in Design of Wedding and Ceremony Dresses in its main window.

The winning dress of the last edition of the Bridal Scholarship for Talent by Gratacós contest, “Maria”, by Krystle Sepúlveda, was also showcased in the Gratacós shop window with its final fabric from 14 April. The look will be on display until 12 May.
