IED Madrid closed the Madrid es Moda program with its Fashion Show, where 12 recently graduated designers presented their collections. In the end, Raquel Aldaz was recognized with the Fashion Talent Award for a bold and technically flawless proposal.

On September 16, at Espacio Ventas in Madrid, IED Madrid held a new edition of its Fashion Show, which for the first time was part of the official Madrid es Moda agenda. The event brought together design and communication professionals to discover the emerging talent of 12 young designers who presented their final degree collections, under the theme “Connected Knowledge”, exploring the intersection of tradition and technology, sustainability and innovation.

On this occasion, the Fashion Show also served as the stage for the presentation of the Fashion Talent Award, which for the second consecutive year recognizes the potential of future fashion icons. The winner was Aragonese designer Raquel Aldaz with her collection “Background Noise”, a reflection on the contradiction between the desire to be sustainable and the reality of mass consumption.

The jury — composed of Pepa Bueno (Executive Director of ACME and Director of Madrid es Moda), Leticia García (SModa, El País), David Alarcón (METAL Magazine, ACERO Magazine), and Federico Antelo (artist and Director of the IED Madrid Fashion School) — highlighted her courage in taking risks, her aesthetic experimentation, and the technical rigor of her work.

Over the course of a year of intensive work, Aldaz manually intervened on each fabric, explored materials of her own creation, and reused home textiles, producing voluminous garments that posed logistical challenges nearly as complex as their elaboration. Her collection is a visual metaphor for the “noise” that conditions our consumption and creative decisions.

Alongside Aldaz, eleven other IED Madrid alumni showcased innovative proposals that fused artisanal processes with digital languages, opening new avenues for contemporary fashion. Designers to watch closely include: Guillermo Sastre Fernández, Miguel Conde García-Mochales, Maitane Carmen Somet García, Xinyuan Zheng, Alejandra Elizondo Díaz, Casilda Ortiz Baselga, Natalia Arroyas Peregrín, Uxía Gómez Ortega, Paula Jiménez Párraga, Pedro Díaz García, and Alejandro Úbeda Callejas.

“In our classrooms, the designers of the future are trained, and our commitment is to accompany them throughout their professional journey, creating a solid bridge between education and industry. At the same time, we offer them a platform to showcase their creations in a context of professionalism, recognition, and visibility,” emphasized Eduardo Castañé, General Director of IED Madrid.
