The professional jury also provided a positive assessment of the proposal, in terms of the final execution of the design as well as its lighting and creativity.

Starry Night. Gravity Christmas’, one of the two window dressing proposals by IED Barcelona for this year’s “Christmas lights illuminate commerce” campaign, has won the Popular Vote Award for the most innovative shopwindow.

Conceived by third-year IED Barcelona Interior Design and Product Design students Carina Kalweit, Caterina Sofía de Simone, Giulia Martinelli and Nina Dupont for the Market Casa Italia store, it is a design that perfectly captures the charm and magic of the Christmas season. In particular, the lighting design work captivated the establishment’s Italian customers, who recognised the main characteristic elements of a typical Italian Christmas in the proposal.

To achieve the effect, ‘Starry Night. Gravity Christmas’ used a suspended bottle releasing a festive cloud and stars, represented by way of a large number of small lights, reflecting the festive glow of these decorations.

The project was described as “attractive” by the jury of experts evaluating it in December, who also highlighted the quality of the final execution of the design and lighting.
