Next weekend, Turin confirms its role as the Italian capital of the automobile, hosting two major international events: Salone Auto Torino and Festival Car.
Salone Auto Torino is among the most important automotive events in Europe: with over half a million visitors expected, it brings together industry, media, and the public in an urban, widespread, and free format, transforming the city into a grand stage for mobility for three days.
IED will be alongside Italdesign in a stand set up in the Giardini Reali, featuring Rapida, the concept car designed by students of the Master in Transportation Design A.Y. 2023/2024. Rapida is an innovative design project, conceived to explore new mobility solutions and reinterpret the concept of sportiness for a new generation of drivers. The project focuses on the fusion of aesthetics, functionality, and technology, with particular attention to the interiors, which are minimal and immersive, offering an engaging driving experience.
Throughout the afternoon of Saturday, 27 September, students from the Master in Transportation Design will be present at the stand for live sketching sessions, showcasing their creative process and sharing ideas and techniques with the public. At 3:30 PM, anyone can take part in the “Rapida Reloaded” Sketch Marathon, attempting to redesign the concept car, even without being professional designers—a unique opportunity to get closer to the world of automotive design.
Festival Car 2025 is an international reference point for enthusiasts of classic cars and automotive design: over 80 historic vehicles will fill the streets of the hilltop village of Revigliasco, turning it into an open-air museum dedicated to the beauty and culture of the automobile.
In Piazza Sagna, Alisea, a two-seater hypercar designed by students of the Master in Transportation Design A.Y. 2022/2023 in collaboration with Pagani Automobili, will be on display to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Zonda. Its fluid lines and sculpted proportions blend power and style, creating a futuristic vision that recalls Pagani’s tradition.
Mercedes Alazraki, a Transportation Design student at IED Turin, created the official poster of Festival Car 2025. The concept draws inspiration from the iconic car of the event, the Lancia Flaminia Loraymo, evoking the charm of the 1960s and conveying freedom, style, and a spirit of adventure. Among the judges of the Concours d’Elegance is Michele Albera, coordinator of the Transportation Design area at IED Turin.
