Three looks inspired by experiences, food, people and places from her native country, Uruguay

Valentina Bentós Fuster, a fourth-year Fashion Design student at IED Barcelona, is one of the 51 finalists of the prestigious international Arts of Fashion Competition. She has been selected from among 116 schools and universities across 28 countries.

Entering the competition, Bentós aspires to participate in one of the Arts of Fashion excellence programmes that allow the winners of the contest to further their training with confirmed designers or in the design studios of Les Metiers d’Art de Chanel. She will know if she has achieved her goal in mid-December, when the awards ceremony will be held.

The Arts of Fashion Competition aims to celebrate the creativity and originality of emerging socially responsible designers, boosting their learning and facilitating their careers. The theme chosen for this edition is “Inflexion”, a word that reflects the extreme situation that our society is experiencing and that pushes us to rethink, redefine and redraw the way we live, interact with others, and dress. The term can additionally indicate other forms of inflexion of the creative mind or imagination, both physical and figurative.

In line with this concept, the student has presented the “Fashion is a cow” collection: three looks inspired by experiences, food, people and places from her native country, Uruguay, with which she analyses her most bizarre, real and urban side, and which has enabled her to pass this first round.

We will be closely following her evolution in the contest.
