6 Scholarships

IED Italy and IED Spain offer 6 scholarships* covering 50% of the tuition fee for Semester & Academic year courses in Milan, Florence, and Madrid.

Based on your creativity and the artistic and cultural references you love most, you will have to develop a visual story about yourself, using the techniques and expressive tools you are most confident in, so as to express the value of your project: drawings, collages, photographs, images or videos.

On 23 May at 14.30 IED is organising a presentation on the international scholarship competition for Academic Year & Semester courses. During the event you will have the chance to receive more details about the courses being promoted, the brief, examples of projects to take inspiration from and you will have the opportunity to clarify any doubts.

* Students residing in Italy can only apply for the scholarship for the One Year course offered in Spain while students residing in Spain can only apply for Semester and Academic Year Courses offered in Italy. All other international students can apply either for Semester and Academic Year/One Year courses in Italy or Spain.

  • Read carefully the Regulation.
  • Choose the course and the location you are applying for.
  • Get registered by filling in the form.
  • Start to arrange the required documents, respecting the guidelines reported in the briefing.
  • Once the material collection is ready, enter your Personal Area and upload your project and the required documents.


In case you win the scholarship, you will have 3 days to confirm your acceptance and 5 days to complete your application at IED.

  • Candidates must be 18 years old by December 31st, 2023 and they must have accomplished high school diploma by September 2023. 
  • Participants have to meet the specific requirements for each course as indicated in the Regulations of the individual courses and in the relative information material.
  • Candidates must show proficiency in the language of the course (required B2 as minimum level).

Concept evaluation will be carried out by a Panel made of directors and teachers coming from the Schools of Design, Fashion and Visual Arts.

The Panel will evaluate projects with a score from 0 to 5, according to the following criteria:

  • coherence with the design theme/brief;
  • the ability to clearly communicate the message the candidate wants to convey;
  • the originality of the candidate’s project;
  • the overall aesthetics of the candidate’s design project.

Semester and Academic/One Year courses are designed for fresh high school graduates who wish to move their steps towards the topic of their interest before committing to an Undergraduate programme, or for university students who wish to deepen a specific subject, and who already have previous studies and knowledge in the field.
