De Uña receives a cash prize of 500 euros and a day working and learning with designer Josep Abril.

The most colourful and street-inspired edition of the Rec.0 fashion and design pop-up store festival, held in Igualada (Barcelona) from 7 to 10 May, recognised the dream of IED Barcelona alumnus Elena De Uña. 'Dreamland' her final collection for the Master’s in Fashion Design, was crowned the winner of the third edition of the Sustainable Fashion Competition. A contest organised by the festival in conjunction with the Catalan Waste Agency that aims to promote emerging fashion designers who use materials and processes committed to reducing waste by applying circularity and recycling criteria when creating their designs.

As the winner of this competition, De Uña receives a cash prize of 500 euros and a day working and learning with designer Josep Abril.

Two looks from the young designer’s collection were displayed at the entrance to the Leather Museum, where the festival held the Fashion Design Schools Exhibition, with projects designed from a sustainable perspective.

Consolidating young talent

Another IED Barcelona alumnus also played a prominent role in Rec.0. Thanks to recently being awarded Best Emerging Proposal at 080 Barcelona Fashion/Rec.0. Guillermo Justicia, who studied a Master's in Fashion Design, had a marketing and promotional point for his brand within the 080 Barcelona space at the festival, attracting the attention of industry professionals, the general public, and the media.

Congratulations to both alumni!
