Students collaborated with scientists from CERN to learn more about exponential innovation, systems of thought and some of the ATTRACT technologies, such as POSICS-2, Random Power and ULTRARAM

Solutions to prevent food waste during the transportation of perishable products, predict tumour growth, improve the safety of our electronic devices, prevent the collapse of an ageing housing stock, distribute energy more efficiently in developing countries, and reuse low-cost, local materials and resources to construct infrastructure.

These are the projects presented by six multidisciplinary teams of university students from IED Barcelona, Esade and UPC which, within the framework of the Challenge Based Innovation for Artificial Intelligence (CBI4AI) programme, have addressed how to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies with a social impact through design and from the perspective of sustainability and ethics.

Their approach to this disruptive technology is based on the collection and analysis of big data to devise algorithms and forecasting systems in a bid to optimise resources, responding to human needs and anticipating various social challenges.

Along these lines, the students collaborated with scientists from CERN to learn more about exponential innovation, systems of thought and some of the ATTRACT technologies, such as POSICS-2, Random Power and ULTRARAM.

Following several months of work, on 17 May, they presented the design, technologies to be used, and development plan for their final projects during the CBI4AI 2023 Final Gala at the IED Barcelona Point 1 facilities.
