Learn how to design spaces and services to create meaningful human interaction: this is what the Interior Design degree programme at IED Milano is all about

New generation Interior Designers are professionals who want to create sustainable projects, combining practical solutions with spaces open to emotions and meaningful feelings.

Air, temperature, comfort, sustainable materials and lighting: these are just some of the factors involved in designing spaces or services where people can enjoy a great and unique human experience.
With our typical lab-based training, you will soon understand that what makes each of your projects unique is the right approach to style, materials and visuals.

Over your time here, you will gradually build your future as you move between two different specialization tracks: Interior Design, if you want to design new or existing public and private spaces in such areas as hospitality, wellness and leisure, and Event Design, where you will also develop business and organizational skills for creating immersive scenarios.

Issued Degree:

Diploma Accademico di Primo Livello (DAPL), corresponding to a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) – EQF6 Level (European Qualification Framework).

Credits:

The course awards 180 CFA (Academic Formative Credits), corresponding to 180 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

Information to decide

Design is also looking at everyday things from a different perspective. V. Magistretti

Over the three years of study, we will be approaching all subjects involved in Interior Design, from architecture and art all the way to sociology and anthropology. Knowledge of marketing will also be used as a tool to analyse brand values and market positioning of the companies you will work with. It will also be helpful to interpret and stay ahead of consumer trends and requirements.

The aim of the programme is to provide strategic project design thinking based on ethical, social and sustainability values. This will allow you to be confident with your work, not only in its visual form but also when using consistent storytelling.  Our approach is based on human-centred methods as we strive to creatively accommodate what people want from their spaces, with human interaction always being the key to every step involved in the process.

This programme is for students who feel a strong desire to understand the relationship between spaces and people. It is the best option for all those who want to design new spaces where human interaction and services are key factors as much as brand values are.

With IED you will have the opportunity to attend a programme with a strong lab-based and professional approach gaining immediate access to a network of leading companies in the industry. You will also discover that career prospects are extremely varied, as they move beyond Interior Designer to include Exhibit Designer, Retail Designer and Service Designer, to name just a few.

Milan is the city where Design was created and where it is still making history. Here, every year some of the world’s leading events and trade fairs are held, including the Salone del Mobile, where you can discover and experience first-hand the best of the industry.

This programme will allow you to acquire strong project design skills. You will also develop a solid technical and practical background using the most popular software tools for project creation (2d-3d modelling and rendering) and for work presentation with graphics and consistent storytelling.

The Interior Design degree programme at IED Milano has a strong focus on market trends and demands, providing students with the training they need to successfully move into their future careers.
