Learn how to make your jewels and accessories with a creative touch

As early as the first days of your programme in Jewellery and Accessories Design at IED Torino, you will be introduced to cultural and practical skills for designing and making jewels and accessories. You will focus a great deal of energy on research and design, working on your projects inside the goldsmith and leather goods lab, or virtually using 3D design technology. You will learn how to use state-of-the-art tools and software programmes that will give you a unique and competitive edge in the job market.

At the same time, the modelling lab will bring out your creative talent, as you experiment with different techniques and materials. You will have the opportunity to design bags and jewels based on your own creative ideas and extensive research. You will also create jewels and accessories with high market relevance to address specific targets or market segments. In addition to project development skills and tool learning, you will also explore marketing-related topics such as presentations and communication management, distribution, costs, materials selection and production operations.

You will exchange ideas with -and learn from- some of the best brands on the market, working with them on specific projects over the three years of your programme. The typical lab-based approach of this training will allow you to acquire hands-on experience as you prepare to move into the job market.

Your skills will also be enhanced as you go out and visit companies, exhibitions, trade shows and museums as part of your academic career.

Upon completion of the three-year programme in Jewellery and Accessories Design at IED Torino you will have acquired a cutting-edge technology know-how combined with a multi-skilled approach to the profession. As a result, you will be able to develop and manage the whole process of designing a collection: from research to creative design - with both manual and digital techniques - all the way to developing style and materials, and also their impact on market placement.
You will also be able to run cross-cutting fashion collections of jewellery, eyewear, handbags and footwear for the same brand.

The Jewellery and Accessories Design degree programme at IED Torino is designed for anyone like you who has a strong desire to create, prototype and produce objects. At the same time, our students have also developed a deep passion for all things connected with visual culture, trends and fashion as a whole.

Whether you are new to the industry, or have already started to work on something of your own, this programme will provide you with full knowledge of project design and use of tools and applications. We will take you through all the steps of creating a collection of jewellery and accessories. You will learn how to communicate your ideas and the only thing you will need is a great deal of enthusiasm and desire to approach this fascinating career.

Over the three years of your programme in Jewellery and Accessories Design at IED Torino, continuous interaction between your projects and expert designers from the IED network will give you a broad knowledge of visual culture, materials, software applications, trends, market and retail production processes. You will also learn how to interpret the dynamics of production and develop a strong understanding of the DNA of each company you will be working with.

The Jewellery and Accessories Design degree programme at IED Torino will give you the opportunity to experience a practical approach with a focus on product design and knowledge of the most popular tools and software applications used in the jewellery industry, such as Zbrush, Rhinoceros and CLO3D.

The faculty is the crown jewel of this programme. It includes professionals who have worked and continue to work for some of the best jewellery and accessory design companies, among them Dior, Hugo Boss, Cartier and many others. They will take you on a journey of growth as you discover your creative skills and find your own personal expressive style, always with a close eye on the latest market trends and demands.

Other than with your lecturers, you will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with expert designers of jewels and accessories on the occasion of workshops and conferences being held here, company visits and tours of the nearby goldsmith district of Valenza. At the same time, visits to exhibitions and trade shows are organized on a regular basis, and students are also encouraged to take part in national and international competitions.

As students complete their third year of the Jewellery and Accessories Design programme at IED Torino, they will be asked to submit their collections to some of the many partner companies that IED works with in Italy and abroad. This will allow them to take their first steps in their future professional careers as Designers of Jewellery and Accessories, Eyewear, Shoes and Leather Goods. On top of that, your in-depth knowledge of the fashion industry will also allow you to work as a Researcher of Trendy Colours and Materials, 3D Jewellery Designer as well as Jewellery and Accessories Designer.
