Design excellence nurtured at IED Barcelona triumphs at Cairo Design Award 2025

“Polestar Negative + Elemental”, the thesis by Transportation Design alumnus Youssef ElBarbary, wins the award in the Automotive/Industrial Design category

The seventh edition of the Cairo Design Award, the accolades that recognise the best works by national and international designers shaping the future of architecture, interiors, fashion, aesthetics and products, has celebrated an outstanding example of creative talent developed at IED Barcelona. “Polestar Negative + Elemental”, the final project by Youssef Omar ElBarbary, who graduated in 2023 in Transportation Design, has been honoured with the award in the Automotive/Industrial Design category.

His innovative work develops a system and a vehicle that collect carbon for its processing and subsequent use to combat soil desertification and promote biodiversity.
