The designs were developed over several months by alumni from the Barcelona campus under the mentorship of the French couturier, who expressed his admiration for the results

The tenth edition of Barcelona Bridal Night (22 April) transformed fashion into art under the direction of Parisian couturier Stéphane Rolland. In his debut in Spain, the star of the most emblematic gala of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week presented a spectacular show before an audience of more than one thousand people, accompanied by live poetry and music, and alongside alumni from IED Barcelona, who opened the runway with eight dazzling creations developed over several months under Rolland’s direct mentorship.

The French designer, who expressly wished to share this first part of the gala with emerging talents as a sign of his commitment to fashion education, had already stated to the media last March that he was impressed by the quality of the proposals. “I believe some of them, in a short time, will be able to come to Paris to work with me,” he declared at the time. Expectations that were ultimately surpassed by the final designs.

Made using fabrics supplied by the Catalan textile company Gratacós, the looks formed part of the project Sculpted by Nature, which explores the relationship between nature, volume and organic forms through sculptural silhouettes and meticulous attention to detail.

More brides in April

In addition, coinciding with Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, the two bridal designs awarded in the 11th edition of the Bridal Scholarship for Talent by Gratacós are on display, respectively, in the window of the prestigious haute couture textile firm Gratacós and at IED Barcelona. These are “Quiebra”, by David De la Calle Cruz, and “Iceberg”, by Emma García Rodrigo.

Likewise, Sofía Tonola, an alumnus of the Postgraduate Programme in Wedding and Ceremony Dresses Design, is exhibiting from 23 to 25 April at Hotel Catalonia.

Congratulations to all!
