Queralt Santacreu (Style & Proportions), Adrián Rodríguez and Ian González (Productivity), and Aitana Rivero (Creativity) were crowned the winners

An exceptional setting, a huge turnout and exuding excitement right to the end: this was the experience of the third IED Barcelona Sketching Marathon, held on 16 May at Automobile Barcelona (Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc venue). An event that took the art of visualising and capturing dynamic sketches on paper in the field of automotive design to its pinnacle.

Under the guidance of a teacher and with only a pencil and paper, around 30 Transportation Design students made their way through the different stands at the trade show over the course of three hours, sketching some of the vehicles on display. It was an unbeatable opportunity for them to practice their drawing skills, working on proportions, perspective, and the application of shadows and highlights, while delivering great doses of creativity.

The winners, chosen by an expert jury consisting of Javier Fernández, Transportation Design Teacher at IED Barcelona; Michele Albera, Transportation Design Area Coordinator at IED Turin; Andreu Solá, an industrial designer specialising in transportation; and Manuel Díaz Cru, Project Manager at the Automobile Barcelona BU, were:

  • Queralt Santacreu – in the Style & Proportions category
  • Adrián Rodríguez and Ian González (jointly) – in the Productivity category
  • Aitana Rivero – in the Creativity category

As a reward, the four winners will travel to the IED campus in Turin, Italy, this autumn, where they will compete in another edition of the Design Sketch Battle for Ferrari.

Congratulations to all!
