The welcome event for undergraduate students, teachers and staff to mark the official opening of the new academic year will take place on Monday 15 September

 

IED Barcelona will celebrate the beginning of the 2025-26 academic year on Monday 15 September with a welcome event for the first-year students of the Bachelor’s Degrees in Design, the BA (Hons) Degrees and IED Diplomas, starting at 5 pm.

Following an introduction by Andrea Marchesi, Director of IED Barcelona, renowned Design Curator Angela Rui, Head of Master of Arts Programmes at IED Milan, will give a speech on the meaning of Design x Commons. Design applied to the regeneration, integration, and sharing of common goods, looking at reality through the lens of design and learning to consider balance, ecosystems, sustainability and biodiversity for all species.

During the event, the new students will also have the chance to meet the directors of IED Barcelona’s different schools (Visual Arts, Design, Fashion, and Communication), as well as the Student Services team.

Later, at 7 pm, the rest of the undergraduate students from all academic years, teachers and staff will join the Welcome Event to toast the beginning of the new year together.

The following day will see the start of this year’s Welcome Week, which will continue throughout the week, with workshops and activities to provide new students with their first contact with the school’s labs and services. In addition, design visits and tours of the city will take place.
