On 15 September, IED Barcelona inaugurated the 2025-2026 academic year by holding a Welcome Event with the 243 first-year students enrolled on the Design and BA (Hons) degrees, and IED Diplomas. This event enabled this new generation, made up of 62 different nationalities, their first encounter with the world of creativity and design, and with the IED community.

The event began with words of welcome from Andrea Marchesi, General Director of IED Barcelona, and a presentation by renowned Design Curator Angela Rui. It also included remarks from the directors of the school’s various departments (Visual Arts, Design, Fashion, and Communication), as well as from the Student Services team.

Following these presentations, the Welcome Event concluded with a networking session, which was attended by students from all undergraduate courses, faculty, and staff. The following day, they began the Welcome Week together, undertaking various community-based co-creation activities and workshops.
