Develop skills and knowledge in sustainable fashion creation, combining traditional design with new technologies or digital design, while emphasizing the importance of the circular economy in the fashion industry

The  Master's Degree in Fashion Design provides you with the knowledge to develop collections with a unique identity, using innovative and sustainable methodologies.

A key strength of the program is its emphasis on construction techniques that blend craftsmanship with computer-aided design (CAD, CLO), digital prototyping, and emerging production systems. It also includes trend research through big data analysis and the use of artificial intelligence tools, exploring emerging production systems and cutting-edge technologies like augmented reality and 3D printing.

The program will also equip you with tools to understand ethics and social responsibility in fashion, promoting sustainable business models and inclusive approaches that celebrate diversity and accessibility within the industry. Additionally, you will learn to challenge conventional beauty standards and design garments that are accessible and empathetic to all people, transforming contemporary fashion into a more inclusive and enriching space.

This programme is taught at IED Gran Vía - Palacio de Altamira.

Information to decide

Acquire advanced skills in research, innovative design, sustainability, and technology to lead the ethical and cutting-edge future of the fashion industry.

You will learn to combine theory and practice through several stages. You will begin by exploring the fundamentals of contemporary fashion, from its history to trend analysis and the study of the current market. You will familiarize yourself with advanced methodologies for researching and anticipating emerging trends. Then, you will develop skills in conceptual design and learn how to bring your ideas to commercial collections. In the technical phase, you will discover how to integrate technologies such as CAD, 3D printing, and augmented reality into design, applying principles of sustainability and the circular economy to reduce waste and reuse materials. Finally, in the Master's Thesis (TFM), you will have the opportunity to apply all this knowledge in a personal project, demonstrating your expertise in the field of fashion.

This program is designed for graduates of Higher Artistic Education, as well as those holding degrees in any Design discipline, Fine Arts, Engineering, Architecture, or Technical Architecture. It is aimed at individuals who wish to enhance their professional development through specialized skills, and who also have a genuine interest in the world of fashion and the current issues related to clothing in contemporary culture.

This master's program responds to the need for voices capable of addressing the current and future challenges and needs of the fashion world, both from the perspective of businesses and users. You will combine your learning in workshops where you can experiment with a wide range of tools, methodologies, and advanced techniques, while also developing communication, management, and critical thinking skills.
