The three-year Transportation Design degree programme at IED Torino will help you enhance and broaden your career prospects. This is definitely your best option if you want to bring out your passion for cars and turn it into your future career.

You will get in close contact with the automotive industry. This programme provides an insight into aesthetics and practical functions of vehicles, but most importantly you will understand how designers can be key players involved across all the steps of a project. For the next three years your home will be in Turin, the world capital of car design and a permanent reference mark for the whole industry.

As part of your training, you will have the opportunity to develop your own methods, skills and, most importantly, your personal approach to project design. This will be possible as you engage in partnerships, meetings and projects with customers in real life, including some of the most important automotive companies. As a result, you will grow and develop critical and open-minded thinking, and you will be ready to take on the challenges of a fast-changing world where technology is always on the move.

Information to decide

Exploring the cross-cutting dynamics of the automotive industry with exclusive partnerships and real-life assignments

The three-year Transportation Design degree programme at IED Torino is a combination of theory and practice: all the projects and research as a whole look to the future of the automotive industry, including motorcycles and yacht design.

You will learn from scratch how project design and design thinking can be successfully applied to car design too. You will put to the test your technical and application skills, using your knowledge of software tools and your talent on a variety of projects with ever increasing complexity. You will become more confident in your knowledge of materials, aerodynamics, styling and ergonomics.

This programme will give you a great opportunity to further develop your passion and specialize in the sector, working together with some of the key players, domestically and internationally. The main focus of the whole programme will be your dissertation project. This will be your opportunity to show you can work independently, develop a concept and make consistent decisions.

The three-year Transportation Design degree programme at IED Torino is for students who want to turn their passion for cars into a career, dreaming of a future with job opportunities as Exterior Car Designers, Interior Car Designers, Automotive Interaction Designers, Motorcycle Designers, Yacht Designers, 3D car modellers, Visualizers, Mobility System Designers, Colour and Trim Designers.

You will not need any specific requirements to access this programme: if you have a high school diploma and if you dream of creating the next generations of Lamborghini or Ferrari, then this is the best opportunity for you. Also, if you have a passion for new technologies, if all you do is thinking about the future of mobility and if car design has always been your ambition, this programme will give you an insight into the multiple facets of the industry from a broad and multidisciplinary perspective.

Over the three years of study, you will understand why the Transportation Designer is a dynamic professional who plays a key role in urban development, with a strong focus on continuous research and understanding of society.

The three-year degree programme in Transportation Design has a close connection with the city of Turin, the world symbol of car design and home of the greatest Italian car manufacturers. Here, important designer firms such as Pininfarina, Bertone, Giugiaro and Italdesign have set the standard and succeeded in translating the typical Made in Italy know-how into successful car design projects.

Turin is carrying on its magnificent tradition into the third millennium: here are based the style centres of Jeep, Lamborghini, Suzuki and Alfa Romeo along with the best design studios working side by side with other companies in the industry.

This programme is a unique experience in terms of partnerships, meetings and workshops on Transportation Design with top international companies. You will be able to grow and develop yourself with real projects from leading automotive brands and a faculty with experience in such companies as Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, Suzuki, Tata, Maserati, Pininfarina, Jeep and Italdesign.

This programme provides you with the opportunity to create and enhance your work portfolio and develop all the skills you need to start working with a brand style centre or an independent design studio in the automotive industry. This type of training is consistent with the latest market demands and trends, making you a key player in the next evolutions as you move towards the future of mobility.
