Create your own style as a way to connect space, objects and people with our Interior and Furniture Design degree programme at IED Firenze
Today, the world of design runs through a technological production chain. However, craftsmanship can still play a key role in promoting powerful drive for innovation and customization.
On our Interior Design and Furniture Undergraduate Programme at IED Firenze, you will enjoy a unique experience as part of a challenging, dynamic environment with students from all over the world. You will have the opportunity to engage with professionals who can boast international work experience across all areas of Design, but most importantly you will work on different projects with some of the best companies from the industry.
Over three years, you will learn how project design skills, methods and communication can work together to train up expert interior designers with strong personality, who will play a key role within the product design industry.
This programme provides you with the tools needed to manage the whole design process of interior and product design.
Our training provides the perfect balance between practice and theory as it is based on a multidisciplinary method that will encourage you to develop a personal approach to design. Skills in the area of design are completed with solid cultural background as you study such subjects as art history, architecture, sociology, anthropology and marketing.
You will learn the techniques and tools involved in product concepts and practical applications, covering everything from hand drawing to technical design and production of three-dimensional models, as you explore digital, visual arts and relevant standards. Our aim will be to help you develop self-confidence and ability to work independently on a variety of design project areas, including residential, commercial, hospitality, tradeshows or exhibitions, and also furniture products.
Other than the typical design methods, you will also gain knowledge of the main tools involved in spatial and product design. You will learn to develop and apply your creative solutions to different environments and products reflecting aesthetic and practical requirements.
The Interior Design and Furniture Undergraduate Programme at IED Firenze is for students who look at Design as a new way to bring craftsmanship and the latest technologies to the forefront.
This programme will offer new prospects for analysis to those who want to understand how spatial research is influenced by finishes, colours, textiles and materials, with a special focus on eco-sustainability.
This will help you develop awareness of a variety of job prospects that are not just restricted to the role of Interior Designer or Furniture Designer. Indeed, new career opportunities also include that of Concept Designer, Product Designer, Product Specialist, Materials and Devices Researcher.
The main feature of our Interior and Furniture Design degree programme at IED Firenze is a strong connection with local life and society as a way to open up to a more international perspective on arts and culture. Students from different countries have the opportunity to get together in a city that more than any other holds the legacy of Italy’s history and culture, where craftsmanship has developed into crossing national borders.
The area of Tuscany can also offer a direct connection to the Fashion System. As you take part in different contests and special projects, you will have the opportunity to put your ideas into practice on a variety of activities on a goal-oriented basis. You will approach project briefs with full awareness and learn how to work as part of a team.
This programme reflects market evolutions and trends, with a full understanding that skilled craftsmen are highly in demand as they can contribute greatly to increasing the value of a product through their manufacturing know-how. Within this challenging context, we want to train up professionals who can manage space design projects as a whole, with an eye on new materials and customer emotional experience.
On your first year, you will acquire basic technical, cultural, analytical and project design tools to better understand and manage the whole creative process, starting to shape your own design identity.
