What makes hospitality a truly memorable experience within a hospitality design project?

The hospitality sector is undergoing a profound transformation, in which the guest experience has become a central and distinctive element. Hotels, accommodation facilities and spaces dedicated to welcoming guests are increasingly called upon to tell a story, engaging with the local context, tourism, food culture and fashion. In this context, interior design plays a strategic role in shaping functional environments that are recognisable and consistent with a brand’s identity.

The First Level Master in Interior Design for Hospitality at IED Roma is designed to train professionals capable of designing complex hospitality spaces, integrating aesthetics, functionality and strategic vision. The programme addresses hotel design in its entirety, from spatial layouts to guest rooms, from common areas to food and beverage spaces, and up to the development of bespoke furniture. Rome, a crossroads of culture, tourism and architectural heritage, offers a privileged context in which to observe and interpret the dynamics of contemporary hospitality.

Throughout the Master, students acquire design, technical and cultural skills specific to the hospitality sector, also exploring sociological and managerial aspects that influence the design of welcoming environments. The programme alternates theoretical modules, design laboratories and workshops with professionals and companies in the sector, promoting an experiential learning approach based on real case studies.

The laboratories are structured around three main design experiences of increasing complexity: the development of a boutique hotel, the design of a guest room and the interior design of food and beverage spaces. Students work with the main design and representation software provided by IED and develop a portfolio documenting their design journey and acquired skills. The Master concludes with a Final Thesis Project and a curricular internship, to be carried out in external organisations or within IED in the form of a field project.

The Master prepares professionals able to enter the field of hospitality design, working as freelancers, within specialised studios or in the design departments of international hospitality brands. The skills developed enable graduates to address complex hotel projects, contributing to the creation of spaces that combine identity, design quality and user experience.

Special lesson with Aaron Betsky

“Wouldn’t you much rather go exploring and find the incredible possibilities that exist in this huge all around us and figure out how to reimagine the world. That, I hope, is my challenge to you”.
