Skilled communicator, expert in fashion and bon ton, sensitive to colour variations, empathic with clients, self-aware manager, able to interpret other people’s personalities: the Image Consultant is all this and much more. This professional serves halfway between verbal and non-verbal communication and fashion.
Given the present social context where image is the first testimonial of one’s individuality, in recent years there has been a growing demand of such a professional figure, which is able to guide the client through precise choices of style, the construction of a coherent and sharp look that spreads self-confidence and charm and results in a flattering fit. Through a personalized restyling, these image professionals identify lines, colours, make-up, accessories and shapes that can better reveal and highlight the clients’ personality and adapt it to their role, physical characteristics and obviously fashion trends.

The Image Consulting course objective is to provide students with a specialized training ranging from the contemporary fashion landscape, main trends and styling techniques, figure analysis and the analysis of the main dress codes, mix of colours, maquillage, to the creation of one’s own business.

Language: The lessons are held in Italian language; to attend the course, is required a good knowledge of Italian language reading and oral comprehension.

UNDER PRESSURE

Under Pressure is first and foremost a 3-year training programme aimed at IED network’s students where they were asked to find 100 questions in urgent need of action. The results will be exhibited during the 2019 Fuorisalone.

The teaching methodology combines frontal lectures with practical workshops aiming at enhancing the course contents through practical experience. Students will be asked to actively participate and contribute to the learning process through intermediate tests, research and in-depth analysis of one or more topics of the course, to be presented and discussed during lessons.

Frequency: three evenings a week from 7pm to 9.45pm

    • Fashion and Trends

      Analysing September and October’s fashion shows in Milan, Paris and New York, the course will analyse trends set by fashion designers for womenswear collections for next season, also looking into man’s fashion. It will also focus on personalities that play a central role in the fashion system and that with their creativity have brought about new visions in the current landscape.

    • History of Fashion

      This course will tackle the historical and cultural evolutions in fashion, with a particular attention to stylistic research in the XXth century, observing the intertwined development of history, economy and artistic production. Starting from the European situation after the Napoleonic Empire, the course will look at the Belle Epoque, the wars and economic recovery up to the analysis of contemporary brands.

    • Image Consulting Woman and Man

      The course will deepen all the technical tools that are useful to perform the image consultant job. It will touch upon market overview, different typologies of clients, figure analysis, etiquette and styles whilst taking into account budget, personality and needs of the client. The learning process will be supported by practical tests for the identification of a wardrobe, choice of clothing, combination of colours, identification of lines, cuts and fabrics for different silhouettes, with a special attention to menswear.

    • Communication Techiniques

      In our relationship with others, we act in a way that - besides explicit contents - involves various elements involving our body, voice, gesture, competences and capacity of transmitting good feelings. Through a series of practical exercises and the use of different communication techniques, this course improves students’ awareness of the way they speak in public and interact with clients.

    • Make Up and Hairstyling

      Makeup and hairstyling are the most direct expression of a person and they unequivocally complete someone’s total look. The course objective is to provide students with the basic knowledge and tools to identify the adequate make-up and hair-styling for a client. They will concentrate on the study and different typologies of faces, the correct use of colours, a make-up enhancing complexion and the shape of the face and eyes. They will then study cutting, hair-styling, colour and mistakes to be avoided.

    • Home Styling

      The course objective is to teach space management, furniture’s combinations, use of lighting sources, balance between spaces, decorating elements and how to adapt them to the space’s needs and to the taste and style of each client.

    • Commercial Law

      This course represents a first step in familiarizing yourself with economic and commercial relations, with a particular attention to fiscal and financial practices that are useful for freelance professionals.

Annamaria Lamanna
Born and raised in Milan, she graduated in Public Relations at IULM and gained her most significant professional experiences by working for the main national and international fashion brands. As Fashion Coordinator, she worked in close cooperation with stylists, personally following products, fabrics castings, shootings and fashion shows. In 2004, after about ten years of professional activity, she began her own entrepreneurial adventure by creating Personal Shopper Milano, which became a market leader in the sector. www.personalshoppermilano.it
