Today, designing means understanding the customer and society so as to come up with solutions that produce much more than aesthetically pleasing results.
The Master in Sustainable Design and Social Impact tackles sustainability from a 360° approach, which includes choosing materials, conceiving the business model or service idea and studying its financial profitability. Students are guided deep into the complex world of product design and contemporary packaging, where they are taught to be creative, analyse each project carefully and implement new social values.
Design is a fundamental part of the innovation process. Sustainability depends heavily on innovation and requires a good command of new materials, production processes, business relations and social values.
The content is divided into 5 topics: Sustainability, Techniques, Management, Projects and Specialisation. To end the course, students are tasked with a final project which involves a real collaboration with a product and/or service company such as Artemide, Fluvia, Santa&Cole, and Comú de Canillo in Andorra.
Objectives
During the coursework, inter-disciplinary seminars and workshops are held with guest specialists so as to develop in practice different topics of interest and consolidate the knowledge obtained in the theoretical and practical courses. The Master is led by a teaching staff of leading-edge professionals who are specialists in each of the pioneering areas about which the students are given knowledge and methodologies.
The contents of the master’s course are organised into 5 areas by topic: Sustainability, Techniques, Management, Projects and Specializations.
